DualPac 2211 Innovation in Packing Technology

In January 2017 we launched an exciting new product in our Packing Portfolio:

2211 DualPac

Dualpac 2211 is made with a completely new manufacturing process that enables us to manufacture a packing from two different materials in a very unique way. The packing has been developed to increase packing life and minimize gland adjustments by combining the sealing properties of PTFE with the resilience and wear resistance of aramid in a way that is completely new and unique.

Since we launched the product it has been supported very well around the world and sales development has been good.  The product was initially aimed towards the mining industry but we have had successes in other industries like pulp and paper other applications outside of the mining industry.

Since the launch we have re-engineered our manufacturing and quality processes to assure that only product is shipped that meets our stringent specifications. For this product this is particularly important due to the multiple configurations that the product can be installed in. We are committing to a lead time of 10 days but in most cases will be able to ship sooner from stock since we have been building inventory of this product.

Why DualPac Technology?

To design this new packing, Chesterton engineers created a new braiding machine, this machine uses an exclusive and patented braiding technology. Because of the current sales and planned future sales we have ordered a second braiding machine to fulfil the orders.

   DualPac App

Chesterton developed a dedicated DualPac mobile application for iOS, Android platforms to promote this new product. The application shows the features and benefits of the products but also it allows to generate a request for quotation. Watch the video and download the Apps here

The future of DualPac

The possibilities of DualPac are endless. With this technology we can look at the requirements for compression packing, look at where which feature is required, and apply materials (be it yarns, lubricants, blocking agents, etc.) at the location where they are needed. For example we can give the packing its low friction properties where it is needed: on the packing inner diameter. We can give the packing its anti-extrusion properties where it is needed: at the bottom of the stuffing box and under the gland. In a similar way we can give packing its required properties where it is needed.
So in the future we will be launching more versions that use the DualPac braiding technology for applications in different industries and in different applications. This will allow us to fulfil the needs of our customers better while improving further our competitive advantage.
