The new higher impact resistant version of ARC MX1 is starting to develop some impact of its own with customers looking for extended operating time of equipment subject to severe abrasion. One such case is at a wood based panel customer experiencing severe abrasion in their wood chip cyclones. ARC composites have been used in the cyclones with excellent results except for one key area, the cyclone inlet.
Due to high speed particle impact at the inlet area the ARC products, including the old MX1, were only lasting a maximum 3 months before repair was needed.
However, the new MX1 has now been in service for over 5 months and is still running as can be seen from the photos. Based on the remaining thickness of the MX1, it is expected that the MTBR with the new MX1 will be at least 2 years. Similar results have been seen at a pulp and paper customer where the new MX1 has extended the previous life of cyclone cleaners.
